Latest Brain News and Results

The list of "compatibly mated results" in the following news updates consists of those City winners, Black Type winners and Black Type placegetters that we are aware of that were identified SPECIFICALLY TO CLIENTS (as part of broodmare or yearling analysis work), either BEFORE CONCEPTION or BEFORE SALE AS A YEARLING.

The pre-conception or pre-sale timing of analysis work is testimony to the predictive powers of Brain Pedigree Analysis given the frequency of successful performers relative to the small percentage of the Australian thoroughbred population that has actually been analysed let alone identified as compatible or recommended. In addition to the horses listed, there are many other successful horses that are compatibly mated that were not subject to analysis request by clients.

CURRENT SEASON HIGLIGHTS

There has been a number of highlights in the current 2007/2008 season amongst horses that were identified specifically to clients as part of broodmare or yearling analysis, either before conception or before sale as a yearling.

GLOBAL WARMING - recent Listed Canterbury Classic winner Global Warming is an emerging sprinter and was bred to a mating recommended by Brain.

BURGEIS - has taken over from De Lightning Ridge as the nominal Blue Diamond favourite on the strength of one impressive victory at Moonee Valley recently.  She was identified as a compatible mating when analysed as a yearling.  While Laurel Oak actually bid on her, another Brain client was the underbidder.

SATINKA- has emerged as one of the best 3yo fillies in New Zealand with consecutive Group Two wins.  She was identified as a compatible mating when analysed as a yearling.

CANBERRA CUP DAY- De Lightning Ridge was part of a winning treble by local trainer Keith Dryden on Canberra Cup Day.  Brain Pedigree Analysis had an influence in each of the winners.  Aside from De Lightning Ridge, the promising Steel Titan impressively won a restricted race while Testa Grande won the Listed Canberra Cup.  Steel Titan was bred by Epsom Lodge as a result of a mating recommended by Brain, and was then purchased by Laurel Oak as a direct result of inspecting recommended matings in the sale.  Testa Grande was purchased after the mating was recommended following analysis as a yearling.

DE LIGHTNING RIDGE- was promoted to Blue Diamond favouritism on the strength of an ultra-impressive debut win. She was purchased after the mating was highly recommended as a yearling.

MISS PAGEANTRY- has emerged in the post EI period as one of the better mares in Sydney.  She is already a Stakes-placed mare and was the product of a recommended mating as part of a broodmare analysis.

SCHILLING– has emerged as a very talented 3yo winning a number of races and culminating in the Group Two Sandown Guineas. Schilling was bred by Ramsey Pastoral as a result of a highly-recommended mating.

DIVINE MADONNA- was highly recommended as a yearling, in fact Laurel Oak were underbidders on her.  This season she has already won the Group One Toorak Handicap at Caulfield and the Group One Myer Classic at Flemington.

EFFICIENT– Zabeel was identified as a highly recommended mating for the mare Refused The Dance as part of a broodmare analysis.  At the time Efficient was a foal on the ground.

AQUA D’AMORE CONTINUES TO STAR
Aqua D’Amore looked to have the Group One Caulfield Cup shot to bits before Tawqeet ran her down but it was a mighty performance from this high-class mare.  Her Caulfield Cup placing continues a stellar career and follows up on her dead-heat third placing in the Group One Turnbull Stakes at Flemington a fortnight earlier. Aqua D’Amore was identified as highly compatible when analysed as a yearling.

CINQ ROUGE BRILLIANT IN DEBUT
Stuart Ramsey’s Turangga Farm has been one of the most successful users of Brain Pedigree Analysis over the years with success at all levels of racing including several Group One wins as either owners or breeders.  The stud appears to have produced another budding star when 2yo Cinq Rouge was very impressive winning his debut in the Mermaid Plate at Moonee Valley.

GEIGERON A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
Without doubt the main reason that Brain Pedigree Analysis is continually popular with clients is the success that owner and breeder clients experience at all levels of racing.  There is nothing more enjoyable than a winner and while we highlight black type performances in our promotional material, the real advertisement for Brain and main generator of return business is the success that clients personally enjoy at all levels of racing, both as owners and breeders.

A great example is the success of Geigeron, the product of a recommended mating and raced by his breeders, Barry and Linda Pont of Uneek Racing and Breeding.  His career has been a source of great enjoyment for his owners and his two recent victories in Saturday company at Rosehill have taken his career record to seven wins and eleven placings from 27 starts and $211,000 in prizemoney.

EXCITES RETURNS TO TOP LEVEL

Despite his well-publicised idiosyncrasies, Excites who was identified as highly compatible as a yearling is proving to be a top-class galloper.  He put in another top-level performance when second in the Group One Caulfield Guineas.

MADONNA DIVINE

We have followed Divine Madonna’s career very closely.  She was identified as highly-compatible as a yearling and at Laurel Oak we were underbidders on her.  I am pleased to see that we are good judges!  Her brilliant win in the Group Two Melbourne Carnival Stakes at Flemington on 7 October was her fourth win from thirteen starts and took her earnings to $348,000.

Soul Diva gaps them
Soul Diva has emerged as a staying filly of some promise winning her last two starts by 6 lengths and 4 lengths respectively. Raced by a Laurel Oak syndicate this Grand Lodge filly was purchased as a yearling after being recommended as highly compatibly mated by Patrick Brain.

Aqua D’Amore a star in the making
Potentially the new star of Australian racing, Aqua D’Amore, was strongly recommended as a yearling. She has taken her career record to 8 wins from 16 starts with three consecutive stakes win in the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes, Group 2 Villiers Handicap and Group 3 Summer Cup.

Group One quinella in New Zealand
Boxing Day saw two daughters of Zabeel who were both strongly recommended as yearlings quinella the very aptly named Group One Zabeel Classic. Bazelle narrowly defeated Kind Return to quinella the race named after their own sire.

Wild Queen firing
Wild Queen, strongly recommended as a yearling, completed a remarkable sequence of four consecutive Black Type wins when she won the Group 3 Hawkesbury Cup. Previously she had won the Listed Safilo Cup at Hawkesbury, the Listed Belle Of The Turf at Gosford and the Listed Angst Stakes at Royal Randwick.

Great Results On Cox Plate Day
Cox Plate Day provided some great results for Laurel Oak' Brain
clients. Without winning, the best result was Sky Cuddle running 4th in the Cox Plate behind Makybe Diva. This high quality mare is the product of a Brain recommended mating and is bred and raced by Ramsey Pastoral. Already a Group One winner and Group One placed, a 4th placing in Australia's premiere weight-for-age race is a magnificent achievement to add to her already impressive resume.

On the same programme, another product of a Brain recommended mating, Coronga, won the Group 3 City Pacific Finance Handicap. He was bred by Di Mildern who is really appreciating the SuperVOBIS nominator's bonuses that this horse if earning.

Also on Cox Plate Day, All Bar One, another product of a compatible mating purchased on Brain's recommendation by Heinrich Bloodstock, donkey-licked the opposition in the $100k Open Handicap by 6 lengths.

Other compatibly mated horses to do well on the programme were Imprisoned, 2nd in the Group 2 Schweppervescence Stakes and Bazelle,  3rd in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Cup.

Importantly, Brain Pedigree Analysis
is a vital criteria in Laurel Oak's selection policies.

Shania Dane adds a Group One placing
Shania Dane maintained her high-class form when she finished a close 2nd in the Group One George Main Stakes at Randwick, adding a Group One placing to her increasingly impressive record.

Sky Cuddle threatens another Group One
Sky Cuddle looked a genuine chance of recording her 2nd career Group One win when she hit the lead in the Dubai Racing Club Cup. In the end she could not hold off Barely A Moment and Super Kid but there was a long gap to the rest of the field. Sky Cuddle was bred and is raced by Ramsey Pastoral Company which had bred a previous winner of this Group One race with Mr Murphy, another product of a compatible mating.

Shania Dane continues great form
Shania Dane maintained her great form when winning the Group 3 Tramway Handicap 2nd up. Media maintained her ranking as one of the best fillies of the season when 2nd to Mnemosyne in the Group 2 Furious Stakes.

Shania Dane back in style
Shania Dane, identified as compatible when analysed for a client when a yearling, cam back to racing a great form winning the Group 2 Premiere Stakes at Rosehill.

Media produces bright start to the new season
High class two year old of the 2004/2005 season produced a bright start to the new season for compatibly-mated horses identified to clients when she won the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes at Randwick. The filly, recommended to clients when analysed as a yearling, was a 2nd generation compatible mating as her dam Valourina was also the product of a high-compatible mating, identified when recommending matings for her dam, Bravery.
