THE MULTIPLE GROUP ONE WINNERS

A SUMMARY OF HORSES WHO HAVE WON TWO OR MORE GROUP ONE RACES

IN SYDNEY OR MELBOURNE IN THE PAST 19 SEASONS

AS AT 8 JUNE 2009

For the benefit of new readers, Patrick Brain maintains, as a matter of course, the ratings of those horses that have won two or more Group One races in Sydney or Melbourne.  A client initially commissioned Patrick to “fill the gaps” so that there was a finite group of racehorses that had all been analysed, and from which some statistical conclusions could be drawn.  The list now covers nineteen seasons.

There are 193 horses that have achieved this elite status. The results to-date are:

i)                   128 (66.32%) of the horses rated under 180 (high degree of compatibility):

Better Loosen Up, Redelva, Shaftesbury Avenue, Tierce, Triscay, Let’s Elope, My Eagle Eye, Richfield Lady, St Jude, Coronation Day, Innocent King, Kingston Bay, Kinjite, Mannerism, Planet Ruler, Rough Habit, Schillaci, Skating, Slight Chance, Super Impose, Veandercross, Alcove, Arborea, Durbridge, Golden Sword, Kenvain, Lady Jackeo, Mahogany, March Hare, Primacy, Mookta, Canny Lad, Cole Diesel, Dr Grace, Stylish Century, Sydeston, Tristanagh, Vo Rogue, Northwood Plume, Blevic, Spanish Mix, Hareeba, Hurricane Sky, Danewin, Stony Bay, Our Maizcay, Doriemus, Seascay, Electronic, Brawny Spirit, Saleous, Merlene, Assertive Lass/Assertive Lad, Poetic King, Saintly, All Our Mob, Intergaze, Filante, Might And Power, Tie The Knot, Dracula, Catalan Opening, Gold Guru, Isca, Arena, Dignity Dancer, Sky Heights, Sunline, Dane Ripper, Champagne, Testa Rossa, Redoute’s Choice, Rogan Josh, Miss Pennymoney, Fairway, Diatribe, Coco Cobanna, Sports, Mr Murphy, Desert Sky, Oliver Twist, Universal Prince, Northerly, Show A Heart, Ha Ha, Ethereal, Sudurka, Carnegie Express, Victory Vein, Lonhro, Helenus, Spinning Hill, Republic Lass, Hasna, Yell, Choisir (included here although only one Group One in Australia), Mummify, Starcraft, Makybe Diva, Reset, Spark Of Life, Private Steer, Special Harmony, Niello, Hollow Bullet, Shamekha, Eremein, Barely A Moment, County Tyrone, Serenade Rose, Miss Finland, Apache Cat, Fields Of Omagh, Virage De Fortune, Glamour Puss, El Segundo, Hotel Grand, Divine Madonna, Miss Andretti, Aqua D’Amour, Gold Edition, Efficient, Tawqeet, Casual Pass, Sebring, Scenic Blast, Niconero

ii)                 32 (16.58%) rated between 180 and 220 (good compatibility):

Electrique, The Phantom/The Phantom Chance, Naturalism, Our Westminster, Paris Lane, Jeune, Pharaoh, Octagonal/Mouawad, Gold Ace, Juggler, Spartacus, Belle Du Jour, Viscount, Rubitano, Clangalang, Alinghi, Dance Hero, Elvstroem, Savabeel, Grand Armee, Desert War Mnemosyne, Takeover Target, Haradasun, Dance Hero, Sirmione, Heavenly Glow, Vision And Power, Maldivian, Gallica

iii)              Only 33 (17.10%) rated worse than 220 (moderate to poor compatibility):

King Marauding, Telesto, Surfers Paradise, Potrero, St Covet, Sharscay, Nothin’ Leica Dane, Flying Spur, Dashing Eagle, Encounter, Ebony Grosve, Grand Archway, Shogun Lodge, Umrum, Magical Miss, Dash For Cash, Exceed And Excel, Regimental Gal, Regal Roller and Fashions Afield, Mentality, Racing To Win, Lotteria, Railings, Bently Biscuit, Forensics, He’s No Pie Eater, Tuesday Joy, Weekend Hussler, Theseo, Samantha Miss, Metal Bender and Fiumicino.

Records have also been kept for each Cox Plate, Golden Slipper and AJC Derby winner since 1986.  Since the last published results in December 2005, The Golden Slipper has been won by Phelan Ready (128), The AJC Derby winners by Roman Emperor (192) and The Cox Plate by Maldivian (219).

Including these results, 22 of the past 24 winners of the Golden Slipper, 22 of the past 24 AJC Derby winners, and 22 of the past 23 winners of the Cox Plate are the products of compatible matings.

Now these 71 races have been won by 66 individual horses with the statistical breakdown standing at 49 of the 66 (74.24%) rating under 180; 12 of the 66 (18.18%) rated between 180 and 219; and 5 of the 66 (7.58%) rated worse than 220.

The ongoing results, both statistically and those enjoyed by our clients, continue to support the findings of Patrick Brain’s many years of research, that compatible matings significantly improve your chances of racing and breeding high-class racehorses.
